Queen Elsa the Odd Girl

My girls have been 100% caught up into the world-wide Frozen craze. So of, course, when my oldest had her birthday, it had to be Frozen themed. Around this time I also ran across a whole bunch of papercrafted Disney Princesses while browsing the ubiquitous interwebs. These dolls were made with the Sizzix Paper Doll dies, which I just happened to have. The dies had come in a bundle of Sizzix stuff that I got at a garage sale, and up until now I had relegated them to kiddie use. The images I saw online sparked my imagination, and since I couldn't find one of Elsa, I got to work.

Whatta ya think? I used stamps from Sweet & Salty (face with nose drawn in) and Happy Day (mountains, ice drops). Papers and inks are Stampin' Up, as is the "branch" stamp (Gorgeous Grunge), the flower die (Floral Frames Framelits) and the sentiment (something way retired).

I'm linking this up with the Some Odd Girl Wings and Things Challenge on Facebook, and the July linky party.  (Http://someoddgirlblog.com)

Sorry, Call It Deja Vu

So the InLinkz needs a separate link for each card. You get to see Foxy again, lucky you!

This is for the SOG Pot O' Gold challenge: http://www.someoddgirlblog.com/2014/03/pot-o-gold-challenge/

Gold, Kraft, and Chevrons: What's Not to Love?

I am just loving the chevron strip from the Some Odd Girl clear set "Make A Statement!" It adds the perfect accent to so many cards. This time I stamped it in white on kraft cardstock (another favorite combo) using Hero Arts Unicorn colored Pigment Ink. I am so glad I picked some up, because it really is the perfect white ink! It shows up nice and opaque on dark-colored cardstock and still keeps a pretty crisp image.

I started out with this Happy Borthday card. I embossed the sentiment (from Stampin' Up's "Perfectly Penned") in gold. But you know what? I ended up loving the layout and the color combo so much that I decided to try some other focal stamps...

Meet Foxy. I think he looks grand in gold, too. His hat comes from the SOG Owl-days set, which leads me to my next card...

Luckily this little guy fit on the tag, too. I made a couple of each so that I have more to give out in future. :) The owl one got entered into a twine challenge on Some Odd Girl's Facebook group a few weeks ago, but Foxy and Happy Birthday were saved for this month's Pot O' Gold Challenge ( http://www.someoddgirlblog.com/2014/03/pot-o-gold-challenge/ ). Fingers crossed! (Uh... metaphorically. I don't actually believe in luck, but that's a whole 'nother topic).

Stick around, I've got a few more cards to post in the coming days... gotta make up for a long un-bloggerly absence. :) Until then...

May Sketch Entry

Once again I'm skirting the deadline! The May Some Odd Girl Sketch Challenge (http://www.someoddgirlblog.com/2013/05/may-challenge/) ends tonight, and this is my entry. It's a graduation card - black and orange are the school colors. I made the tassel myself using what I remember from a tutorial I read a while back - I think it was on Paper Craft Planet but don't quote me on that. I also used a Jelly Roll Glaze pen to add some accents - once I get started with that pen I can never stop! It really gave the card that extra "something" this time.

Paper: Unknown
Punches: Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Ribbon Loop
Dies: Lifestyle Crafts Pinking Circles, Stampin' Up Apothecary Accents and Labels Collection Framelits
Stamps: Some Odd Girl Make A Statement, Stampin' Up Smile Accessories (retired)

Say "Hi!" to Ollie!

So I bought a new (to me) Some Odd Girl stamp. I had been eyeing the Ollies for a while, and then my seven-year-old gave me the perfect excuse. She saw me watching one of Kristy's coloring videos and it blew her mind that Kristy is the one that draws all the SOG stamps (I've let her color others before, and she's seen the cards I've made for other people). She is quite the budding little artist. So I showed her the online store. She liked a bunch of them, but when she saw Ollie Glee she said, "Aww, he's so CUTE! He costs three dollars? I have three dollars!" She wanted to spend all the money she had been saving on him. Isn't that adorable?

Her birthday was a week later and I just couldn't imagine making her card with anyone else. So, I bought him and printed up some extras that I slipped inside her birthday card for her to color. She was very excited. Rewardingly so. Later she mentioned that she didn't think I had ever made her a card with a SOG stamp on it. Which is true. (Truth be told, we bought her card last year.) I didn't realize it would mean so much to her! I'm kinda excited to have someone who appreciates my papercrafting so much. I guess I have a new little SOGgy on my hands!

This is for Some Odd Girl's April Sketch Challenge.

Papers and ribbon: Stampin' Up Pool Party, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango (small strip of orange paper is some random brand)

Super Heroine

Here's a little number I whipped up a while ago - I was going for a kind of comic book feel, hence the word bubble sentiment and the black line border around the image (which I did with a straightedge and black marker). I forgot to snap a pic of the inside, but it said "Hope it was SUPER!"

I'm entering this in this month's Oozak Challenge, "Anything Goes with Your Favorite Colors." I love anything aquamarine, teal, turquoise, etc. If it's bright and it's got blue and some green in it, I'll love it! :) Purple, in general, comes in somewhere second to that color range.

New Stamps!

I got a bunch of new crafty stuff with Christmas money! Yay! Chief among it was my first Some Odd Girl clear stamps, Make a Statement and Birthday Mae. I also got a Cuttlebug from my mom, so of course I had to order some nesties! I especially can't wait to play with the Lifestyle Crafts Pinking Circles and Hexagons!

Here is a card I created for my sister with Birthday Mae. I used the same layout as the Sketch Challenge from a couple of months ago. When I cut it out with my Cameo originally, I cut snd assembled two because I liked the layout so much. Easy card! It is birthday month around here, so I will be sharing more cards shortly, I hope...

I am entering this in the Oozak Anything Goes with Pink and Bling challenge and the Paper Issues Fawning Over You Cute challenge.

Flag Wavin' Mae

This is my entry for the Some Odd Girl Blog October Sketch Challenge. Can you tell I love Some Odd Girl Stamps? I didn't have any of them until recently, but now that I've got 'em I am all about their challenges!

I totally CASEd this card. I really loved the look. Oh yeah, the doily is from Bird's Cards - I love her freebies! I have been waiting for a chance to use this one. The banner is a Silhouette shape that came with Studio, I think.

I'm also entering this into the Oozak Blog Die-Cut Challenge. Digital die-cuts count too, right?

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

I love these fairies from Some Odd Girl! I was lucky enough to win them from their blog and I couldn't be happier. They are super fun to color up. I used Copics and Bic Mark-its, as usual. The sentiment is from When the Scrap Hits the Fun, I think(?).  I made this card for my friend, Mara. She collects all things fairy.

I am entering this into a few challenges and giveaways for World Cardmaking Day. Hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Lazy Day Kaylee Gatefold Card

Some Odd Girl had an awesome Facebook Fun Day yesterday - there were tutorials, flash sale coupon codes, and even a freebie! If you weren't there, don't miss the next one! Anyways, they had two challenges, using fabric and making a gatefold card, so I rolled both into one! I am all about killing two birds with one stone.

It was the first time I tried making a gatefold card - I don't have any thin dies so I had to use my Fiskars ShapeXpress to cut the window. I didn't trust it to do multiple layers at once so I kept the card pretty simple, without additional papers, etc. I was able to just barely fit an embossing folder between the folds to get the Happy Birthday Embossing on the front.

I also tried paper piecing for the first time and I really like how the dress turned out. This card was given at a friend's birthday party last night, so I didn't have time for extra embellishments or to try printing on the fabric like Annette's tutorial suggested. I was at least going to stamp a sentiment on the fabric, but in the end found there wasn't room. So it's CAS (Clean And Simple) again today for me. :) Hope you like it!

Christmas in September?

I have no idea why I'm making Christmas cards in September - I have no plans to give out any handmade ones... But, this challenge tempted me. Doing a clean-and-simple, one-layered card was pretty fun and definitely out of the ordinary for me.

The dove stamp is an old Stampin' Up one. I made a mask of the wing to keep the images from overlapping. Ribbon was packaging scrap ( I virtually never buy ribbon) and I have no idea where I got the sentiment. I used Copic markers C-1 and C-3 to color the dove and left it kinda streaky to mimic feathers.

This card is being entered into the Some Odd Girl/Marker Pop Holiday Hop Challenge.

Birthday Tree

What's a Birthday Tree? I want one! :-)

This card is for the Some Odd Girl September Sketch Challenge. The tree is from Some Odd Girl and the papers are My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy (Boy). The Happy Birthday stamp is an old one from Stampin' Up.

Howdy-ho!

Well, it seems my fears were founded when I started this blog. I knew I'd have trouble keeping it up. So, hi again! I've actually been taking plenty of pictures, mostly of cards I've made, that I will make sure and share with you.

I've also received a Silhouette Cameo since I blogged last! It has completely transformed my paper crafting as I didn't have a single die-cutting apparatus before! I will show you some of the fun things I've done with it. For today, here is a card I made using my new favorite digi, Guitar Kody from Some Odd Girl (the first I actually purchased! I know, I know.)  :)

I'm entering this in their monthly color challenge. Yep, deadline's today. :) Well, I"m gonna keep this short as I have a lot to do today! Keep your fingers crossed that I'll be back soon! (LOL) ;)

Four-legged Thank You Card

This card is for the Designed2Delight Saturday DT Challenge - Cute Critters and for their image challenge using "Lovely Tree." The card was inspired by this card over at Jane's Doodles. I loved the simplicity of it and I've been doing a lot of coloring lately so I wanted to try something different with the digital stamps. The elephant is from Cuddly Buddly's Elephant Walk set and the sentiment is from Rainbow Echo Designs.

Working Title: Have a "Steam-y" Halloween

Get it? "Steam-y"?

This card is actually kinda risque for my tastes, but I know I'm never gonna use it since I'm really not likely to give anyone a Halloween card... so I thought I'd have some fun.

Steampunk Josephine is a Sassy Studio image... I wasn't in time for the progressive challenge so I'm entering it in their Sassy Thursday Halloween color challenge (black, green, orange, and purple) as well as their Paper Craft Planet Fabulous Freebie Friday challenge.

The pumpkins are the progressive freebie from Designed2Delight so this card is also for their image challenge. I'm entering it in their Saturday DT Challenge, too! Gotta love how the themes all matched up!

Other Challenges I'm entering:
Through the Craftroom Door - Happy Halloween
Paper Sundaes - Halloween or Fall
CMC Copic Challenge Group - Fun Halloween Challenge
